Nova Spier

Nova Spier
I am a freelance journalist with a strong interest in investigative journalism and foreign correspondence.
I completed a BA in Communication and Information Studies at VU Amsterdam and studied journalism and politics at George Washington University. I am currently finalizing my master’s degree in Journalism at the University of Groningen. My thesis explored how American journalists covered Trump’s 2024 campaign.
I previously interned at regional broadcaster RTV Drenthe, where I contributed to coverage of the municipal elections. Later this year, I will return to the United States for a second internship focused on covering the midterm elections.
As a board member of the Dutch Association of Journalists (NVJ), I advocate for young journalists and press freedom. I also work as an editor for Red Pers and recently organized the 2026 FEJS Conference: "Beyond the Frontlines."
I am always open to freelance assignments, collaborations, and new opportunities.
